Do y’all know what I love about cooking? NOTHING! Seriously, I really don’t enjoy it. If you can show me how to make something really cute that doesn’t involve cooking or baking, I’m all over it! I saw an idea like this on Pinterest and improved upon it (if I do say so myself!) Because the Pinterest post had you making your own brownies! What?! Now WHY would anyone do that when you don’t have to? If you’re like me, and you wait until the very last minute to do {almost everything,} then you need to be following my blog! Fast and easy? I’m your girl! (No! not like THAT! Y’all stop that!) 😉
Really, though – my cooking is so bad that when my middle son, Kelden, was in kindergarten, and they made one of those booklets for Mother’s Day (you know the ones), his page that was titled, “My favorite thing my mom cooks for dinner” was filled out (and drawn) by him: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Yep – so I’m not the Pioneer Woman, okay? I get that. I have talents in other areas (most are yet to be discovered, but I’m sure I do.)
So here’s how to make these cute little treats with NO BAKING WHATSOEVER!
Here’s what you need:
Sam’s Club sells these DELICIOUS already-made flats of brownies for only $9.98 (it’s worth that not to have to stir anything, right? That makes my arm hurt.) The box has lines on all four sides that “direct” you where to cut the brownies into equal squares:
Be sure to use a PLASTIC KNIFE to cut these. The directions tell you that, but I didn’t pay attention to the directions the first time (typical….), but the next time I did, and it was SO much easier (probably why they put it in the directions.)
After you cut your brownies, simply spread chocolate and white icing on equal amounts of brownies. Purchase some Halloween Monster Peeps and Ghost Peeps. I got mine from Party City. (Just in case y’all are wondering, Party City is NOT the place to go the day before Halloween…..), but they DO have them, and if you go tomorrow, maybe everyone will have bought their costume by then (probably not).
So once you spread your icing on the brownies, you simply stick the Peeps on top! I used chocolate icing for the Frankenstein Peeps and white icing for the Ghost Peeps. Pretty cute, and people will think you spent a lot of time on this!
Now if you’re thinking, “Why is she telling us about this NOW? Halloween is OVER!” Well, 1. I just thought about doing it and thought I would share, and – more importantly – 2. They make AWESOME CHRISTMAS PEEPS that you could use for this same idea! Check them out – they have these Christmas trees, snowmen, and gingerbread men, plus reindeer, stars and mittens!
They will stand up easily on cupcakes, too! (and did you know – you can buy frosted, undecorated cupcakes from Publix?) YES! NO BAKING – and still super cute!
I hope you all have a Happy Halloween – it’s already over for me. I finished all the candy last week…..
